Speak Easy: The Fifth Element is you
Presented as part of Nottingham Poetry Festival

Join us for a vibrant two-part poetry experience that journeys through the natural world and creative expression, grounded in the power of place, voice, and community.

The event begins with an immersive walking tour through the heart of Nottingham, where each stop represents one of the classical elements—earth, air, fire, and water. Along the route, you’ll encounter short performances, readings, or prompts connected to each element and location, inviting reflection and response. This part of the event invites you to move, breathe, and engage with poetry in motion, discovering how the city itself holds elemental stories.

The second half of the event takes place in the welcoming space of Nottingham Central Library. Here, we celebrate Eat Our Words—our previous open mic showcase that blended poetry and performance with the atmosphere of a bustling, creative restaurant. You’ll find an interactive exhibition that looks back on the powerful moments we shared, and ahead to what’s next. The space will feature poetry installations, a ‘what’s next’ wall for community contributions, and a chance to connect over food and conversation.

Whether you’re a returning voice or a curious newcomer, Speak Easy: the fifth Element is you ,is an invitation to walk, witness, and wonder—together.
