One of the most influential and adored wordsmiths of recent times, Jackie Kay was born and brought up in Scotland. She has received multiple nominations and awards for her work, was made a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2002 and awarded an MBE in 2006. Her short stories have been described by The Guardian as ‘ranking among the best of the genre’.

Jackie was named Scots Makar, the National Poet for Scotland in March 2016 and her “Desert Island Discs” broadcast on BBC Radio 4 during October of the same year, was a moving and fascinating insight of her life and career, describing the complexity of poetry as giving “a voice, to the voiceless”.

Jackie will be supported by local poet, Milla Tebbs who is widely admired for her honest opinions, and brilliant poems.
