1. When you enter the Nottingham Poetry Hunt Competition (“Competition”) you are confirming that you have read and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
2. Entrants must conform to all terms and conditions to be eligible.
3. These terms and conditions are governed by English law and take precedence over any local rules or laws pertaining to the same subject matter.
4. Competition submissions close at 11.59pm on Sunday 29 November
5. Entries may be submitted from any place in the world and you do not have to be a previously published poet to enter.
6. All entrants must be 12 years of age or over when they submit their entry to the Competition.
7. Entries must be submitted by the author and not on someone else’s behalf.
8. The following persons must neither assist anyone to enter the Competition nor are themselves eligible:
o current and former Competition judges
o the Competition Administrators
o anyone employed by Nottingham Poetry Festival under a contract for services
o the immediate family members of any of the foregoing classes of people.
9. No responsibility is accepted for entries that are disqualified or which are not received for whatever reason.
10. Entrants may submit up to seven poems for the Competition, provided they are unpublished works and conform to the other requirements of the terms and conditions for the Competition.
11. Entries must be written primarily in English (only a few words in another language or languages are permitted).
12. Entries must be original works by one individual author (not a company or other corporate or collective entity, group or organization).
13. Entries must be unpublished works that have not been previously made public, in whole or in part (either in print, online or in any other format, such as radio broadcast, audio file, personal blogs, YouTube and social media.
14. Entries must not be created (i.e. authored) by a computer program.
15. Entrants must retain a copy of all poems that they have entered. Once entered for the Competition, the text of a poem cannot be retrieved, altered or returned.
16. Entrants warrant that: (i) they have personally created their entry and own all rights to it (ii) all related intellectual property and intellectual property rights arising belong to the entrant (iii) the entry does not violate any laws of any country or infringe upon another party’s trademark or copyright or other intellectual property right (iv) the entry is not malicious, defamatory, plagiarized, vexatious or otherwise intended to cause prejudice but is submitted in good faith.
17. All authors must provide their own name for record keeping purposes. If you wish to have your poem published under a pseudonym, this may be included as additional information when submitting your entry.
18. By submitting to the Competition, authors agree that Nottingham Poetry Festival may use their submission to post on their website, social media channels, and to share through other unspecified means.
