A Celebration of Courage
15th June | Nottingham Playhouse
We all have roots, and we’re proud to be collaborating with Refugee Roots on a special project this year.
Participants have worked closely with the Nottingham Poetry Festival team, Alma and Jay, alongside David ‘Stickman’ Higgins and Lux Gagos to create original new work. The pieces will be showcased during Refugee Week 2026, launching at a special event on 15 June.
Refugee Week 2026 runs from 15 to 21 June, with this year’s theme, Community as a Superpower. As a designated City of Sanctuary UK city, Nottingham will host a wide range of events celebrating the contributions, creativity, and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary.
A celebration for refugees and people seeking asylum, featuring music, games, and a photography exhibition exploring the theme of courage, created by refugees from our Creative Café group in partnership with Refugee Roots.
