Seán Hewitt was born in 1990. He lectures in English literature at Trinity College Dublin, and is a Book Critic for The Irish Times. He won a Northern Writers’ Award in 2016, the Resurgence Prize in 2017, and an Eric Gregory Award in 2019. Tongues of Fire (Cape, 2020) is his debut collection of poetry, and is shortlisted for The Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year 2020.

In his sonnet ‘Pied Beauty’, Gerard Manley Hopkins sought to praise ‘All things counter, original, spare, strange.’ In this workshop, we will explore nature’s infinite variety, its flamboyance, and look at how poets have sought out its queerness, its eroticism and its plurality. We’ll also write poems that seek out the queerness of the natural world, celebrating it (and ourselves) along the way.”
