Jamie Thrasivoulou is an award-winning writer, poet, and educator. He’s also the lyricist in the band Kez. In 2019 he won the Saboteur award for Best Spoken word performer in the UK, in 2018 he won the Culture Matters Bread & Roses award for Best spoken word and musical collaboration. His work has been published and broadcast widely, including appearances on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, and BBC Radio 4. He is the official poet of Derby County Football Club and his poem We Are Derby is played before every home game at Pride Park stadium.
Grounded in working class experience, his poems are packed full of witty and often satirical social observation; he has two fingers aimed firmly towards authority and the class system. Jamie’s third full-length collection FERAL was published in February 2025 through Verve Poetry Press. His previous collection OUR MAN was published through Burning Eye Books in 2019, and his debut The Best of a Bad Situation was published through Silhouette Press in 2017. Jamie facilitates writing workshops in schools, colleges, PRU’s and Prisons and is also an associate lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Derby.
