Break the Page: How else can a poem speak?

13 June | Fisher Gate Point

What if a poem didn’t have to stay as just words on a page? If it could be heard, seen or performed? What story is that poem telling beyond the words?

Join multi-disciplinary artist Dream17 in this interactive workshop “Break the Page: How else can a poem speak?” where we will explore storytelling in poetry beyond the written word.

We will look at examples where voice, performance, and different art forms (such as visual elements, sound, characterisation and theatre) have been used to elevate a poem. You’ll then be invited to experiment with your own writing, either created in the workshop or brought with you, with the option to collaborate with other participants. By the end of the session, you will have created a piece of work using at least one other art form to further develop a poem.

Designed for writers, creatives, and anyone curious, this workshop is a welcoming creative space to play and blend different art forms into poetry.
Whether you’re a musician, visual artist, actor, or simply want to try dabbling in something new, you’re welcome to bring your own creative tools (notebooks, instruments, or art materials etc), though this is optional.

Break the page and let the poem speak.
