The Fighting Nightingales and Their More Talented Friends
9th June | The Barley Twist
Join The Fighting Nightingales for a world of comically tall tales set to strange music. Stories of indestructible bluesmen, indestructible moonshine runners, Romans, a dragon, a herd of ancient war elephants, a sentient tree, useless monks, monster fighting monks, and a tee-total Victorian ghost.
But the Fighting Nightingales are not alone. They have brought some of their talented friends to support them
Friend No 1: Will Jackdaw.
Will is a local writer and self-proclaimed, “poet who has got a guitar” who will be bringing us his deadpan compositions of slugs, bugs, trains and other strange wonders.
Friend No 2: ????? (to be confirmed).
Friend No 3: Ross Johnston, the Golden-Haired Angel who will also be compering the evening’s festivities.
Ross is a Nottingham based performance poet, magnetic host of Poets n Pints and writer of fiction attempting to make sense of a nonsensical world through the absurd and surreal. Drawing from existential dilemmas, internal struggles and alcohol, he strives to understand his place in society by painting idiosyncratic images with words. Connoisseur of the weird and wonderful, defier of reality, writer of his own bios: Ross Johnston is great.
