Nottinghamshire Libraries Tour

Please note, these events are for schools only and are not open to the general public.

As part of this year’s festival, thanks to Arts Council England and our other supporters, we’re delighted to have two of the nation’s most loved children’s poets touring the Nottingham’s libraries; Val Bloom MBE and Paul Cookson.

Multi award-winning author, Val Bloom MBE had made a significant contribution to poetry during her career. The author has several volumes of poetry for adults and children; picture books; pre-teen and teenage novels and stories; and has edited a number of collections of children’s poetry. She has also written articles for teaching periodicals, plus for national publications including The Guardian LIBRARY EVENTS and The Independent, whilst also presenting poetry programmes for radio.

Paul Cookson has visited thousands of schools, performing to hundreds of thousands of pupils and staff. His performances leave long standing impressions; his poem, Let no-one steal your dreams, has been adopted by numerous schools as their mission statement.

The two poets will visit libraries in Clifton, Retford, Bulwell, Eastwood, Sherwood, Wollaton, West Bridgford, Bingham, Aspley, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Mansfield, Mansfield Woodhouse, Meadows and Beeston.
